Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to her real name as Winona Ryder is a native of Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her in honor of her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from an Jewish origin.
