Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to her real name as Winona Ryder is a native of Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her in honor of her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from an Jewish origin. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was seven, her family relocated from Mendocino County, California. Mendocino County California. In the area, there was no electricity. Television books were the only way for Ryder to pass the time. Eventually, she was a voracious reader. Ryder started taking classes in acting in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 in the year she turned twelve years old. At the age of 15, Ryder was cast in Lucas her first big film. Ryder was a victim of bullying in high school. Her professional acting, she believed to help, could have helped her. It wasn't to be. She continued to pursue her dreams. The year 1988 saw her first big breakthrough in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played successful roles for numerous films. In 1993, she was nominated twice in the Academy Awards. One of which was for her character in The Age of Innocence.
